Studio Newborn Portrait session with Parents
This lovely couple first came to my studio before they had their newborn for a maternity portrait session. See her gorgeous photos here. For this session, I wanted something with blues and creams. This little boy was so sweet. I find his parents look so happy and relaxed in these images.
Many new parents think they won’t want to be a part of their newborn session for various reasons. I mean, they are TIRED! I get it. I do my very best to encourage every single one of them to be in these portraits with their new babies. I pose new moms in such a way that we are able to draw attention up to their face and create a meaningful connection with their newborn. Honestly, if you want to leave the makeup at home, do it! I would say mascara, blush and chapstick or gloss is about all you’ll need. You don’t even have to look at the camera and smile. I promise! No one has ever regretted the decision yet.
These photos are as much for children as they grow, as they are for the parents. It’s such a special part of the session. I always start with dad first which often finds mom in the bathroom dabbing her eyes. I’ve been known to tear up as I capture new parents with their tiny little babies. It’s such a special moment. We slow down, we take our time. We pose their little fingers and toes. Often I catch parents just inhaling the smell of their tiny heads.
If you are thinking of a portrait session for your newborn I’d love for you to come meet me and take a tour of the studio!
